This study examines the impact of the Chinese experience on sustainable development in Iraq after 2022, taking the natural gas sector as a case study. China has become one of the most influential countries in the global energy sector due to its significant progress in investment, technology, and clean energy, which has encouraged Iraq to strengthen its cooperation with China in gas and energy projects. The importance of this study lies in highlighting the role of Chinese investments and companies in developing Iraq’s natural gas sector, reducing gas flaring, and improving energy production in line with sustainable development goals.
The study also aims to analyze the economic and environmental effects of Iraqi-Chinese cooperation in the natural gas sector and to evaluate Iraq’s ability to benefit from the Chinese experience in achieving sustainable development. Furthermore, it discusses the major challenges facing this cooperation, including infrastructure and technical and administrative issues, while presenting a vision for the future of Iraqi-Chinese partnership in the energy sector and its role in supporting the Iraqi economy and promoting sustainable stability.
